Mark Wathen’s long and illustrious life spans an intriguing mixture of ages and cultures. The rosy memories of a pampered child in India during the time of the British Raj; an insight into the Indian struggle for autonomy; his wealth of experiences as an officer in the HAC deployed in the Western Desert during World War II; a Master of the Mercers’ Company, the premier Livery Company in the City of London; a senior banker for Barclays; and finally an ordained Episcopalian priest on the Isle of Skye. These fascinating memoirs span nearly 100 years.
